VIETNAM TRAVEL GUIDE – PHU QUOC ISLAND

Phu Quoc Island is a complex of 22 islands and the biggest one is known as Phu Quoc Island. Phu Quoc Island is stretched over 49 kilometers long. Phu Quoc Island is the most amazing place to spend your holiday while traveling to Vietnam. Phu Quoc Island owns stunning beaches, bays and amazing view which would satisfy any travelers from all over the world. Phu Quoc Island also has just wonderful weather and climate which is ideal for relaxing tours and beach holidays. While traveling to Phu Quoc Island, travelers will have great opportunities to relax, swimming, cruising snorkeling or diving. Phu Quoc Island is truly an ideal place for your tours and holidays in Vietnam.

4 THINGS MUST DO IN PHU QUOC ISLAND - VIETNAM

With around 57,000 travellers pouring into Phu Quoc Island in the first quarter of this year, Viet Nam's largest island is fast becoming the gem in the country's tourism crown. In the past six months alone, Phu Quoc Island has been connected to the national power grid, been rated third on the US-based National Geographic Magazine's Best Winter Trips of 2014 and seen construction begin on a handful of five-star resorts.
With things set to get even busier in the not too distant future, now is the best time to experience what Phu Quoc Island paradise has to offer. Here are some tips how enjoy your holidays in Phu Quoc Island.
1. Forget the hotel, stay in a bungalow on Phu Quoc Island
There are few joys in life greater than lying in a comfy hammock on the porch of your own private beachfront bungalow only metres from the sand of Duong Dong Beach in Phu Quoc Island. And while many hotels on Phu Quoc Island will boast proximity to the water, they don't guarantee privacy, a sea view or private walls without costing an arm or a leg.
Luckily, there is large selection of reasonably priced, two and three star resorts dotting the main stretch of Duong Dong on Phu Quoc Island and punching way above their official ratings. A charming, thatched-roof ocean-facing bungalow at Thanh Kieu Resort on Phu Quoc Island will cost around US$65 per night, including breakfast, an outdoor shower and the usual amenities. The resort also boasts the nicest private beach on the main strip, complete with tiki-style umbrellas from where you can enjoy the occasional dip in-between cocktails.
2. Try the seafood on Phu Quoc Island
Nestled in the Gulf of Thailand, Phu Quoc Island is famous for its fresh seafood and beachside barbeques. Therefore, no trip to Phu Quoc Island is complete without feasting on a banquet of freshly barbecued prawns, crabs, scallops, fish, lobsters, squid or even sea urchins.
Take a leisurely sunset stroll along the main beach and you'll find swathes of vendors hawking their produce freshly plucked from the surrounding waters that day (and probably still moving). In terms of cost, a group of three (or a ravenous couple) can feast on a dozen prawns, a dozen scallops, two squid, one fish, vegetable skewers, garlic bread and drinks for about VND200,000 per person.
A visit to the town's bustling night market on Phu Quoc Island is also a must, but if you're in the mood for something different, visit Itaca Restaurant Lounge on Tran Hung Dao Street on Phu Quoc Island for authentic Spanish cuisine and some top-notch sangria.
3. Visit Bai Sao on Phu Quoc Island
Many travellers know full well the heartbreak that comes with realising the idyllic beach they saw online was either photo-shopped or taken in some far-away place like Zanzibar. Thankfully, that isn't the case with Bai Sao beach or Phu Quoc Island in general. In fact, travellers will find it almost impossible to capture the sheer natural beauty of Bai Sao - even in their Instragram photos.
Bai Sao's title as the island's best beach isn't undeserved. The water is a bright aquamarine, warm and the flat surf is ideal for small children or first-time swimmers on Phu Quoc Island. There are also a handful of bars and cafes along the beach that will let you camp out on deck chairs for the day while you down iced coffees and plates of calamari.
4. Go snorkeling at Phu Quoc Island
Most resorts will offer packages to go snorkeling around the island's southern or northern tips on Phu Quoc Island. A half-day snorkeling trip will likely include a stop at one of the island's many pearl farms, a floating fishing village, a few hours of snorkeling and a final trip to Bai Sao, all for around $20.
Depending on swell, snorkeling can reveal a vastly untouched underwater landscape heaving with fish and brightly coloured reefs. Lunch is provided on board and includes a mix of local cuisine and the chance to try sea urchins cooked in the local style for about $1 each.
You can also choose between cycling tours or trips to the Phu Quoc Island's famed fish sauce factories. Otherwise, motorbikes are available for around $10 per day to explore Phu Quoc's rustic back roads and villages on Phu Quoc Island.
Tips for the trip to Phu Quoc Island
Bring mosquito repellent
Phu Quoc mosquitoes are a pesky breed that can find their way through even the tiniest gaps in a mosquito net. Insect repellent is a must and tuck in your bed nets.
Book early trip to Phu Quoc Island
Daily flights to Phu Quoc Island run from Can Tho, Ha Noi and HCM City and sell out regularly, particularly during national holidays. You can save around 30 per cent if you book at least a few weeks in advance.
Avoid the rain in Phu Quoc Island
Temperatures in Phu Quoc Island average between 25 and 35oC throughout the year, but the island becomes inundated by monsoons from July onwards. Aim for the dry season, between November and March, or between April and June if you want to avoid the crowds on Phu Quoc Island.

Y TY - LAO CAI IS GREAT FOR ADVENTURE TOURS

Y Ty is a village in Lao Cai Province in Vietnam. Y Ty is in Bat Xat District, Lao Cai Province which is close to China Border. Y Ty is located on Rock Mountains at the height of 2000 meters. Y Ty is the home of Day, Dao and Ha Nhi People. Y Ty is truly a great place for adventure tours in Vietnam.

Y TY - LAO CAI IS GREAT FOR ADVENTURE TOURS

Y Ty, one of the poorest communes in Lao Cai Province's Bat Xat District, has become an attractive tourism destination in recent years due to its natural beauty. Nestled against 2,700m Nhi Cu San Mountain, the commune rarely sees the sun and is often covered by dense white clouds.
Leaving Lao Cai train station and driving the 70km to Bat Xat along mountainous roads that stretch like wild snakes, you will reach this foggy land, 2,000m above sea level. From the car windows, you can see zigzag tracks sunk deep in forest leaves and houses that appear and disappear in the clouds.
"Coming to Y Ty, I thought I was lost in another world," said 25-year-old Trinh Hai Yen. Clouds cover the roads, villages and mountains, merging with the horizon right in front of you. No wonder visitors have the experience of entering a different world.
Terraced fields rise and fall on the hills, beautiful all year round. According to Yen, May is "pouring water season" in Y Ty. As locals transplant rice seedlings, visitors are treated to the sight of glittering ponds. After that, the hills are covered by green. "Terraced fields are full of glittering water running from high mountains. They pile up like stairs to the sky and co-ordinate with colourful clouds to create an awesome painting," said Yen.
Professional and amateur photographers welcome the chance to take stunning photographs. "I am very interested in taking nice pictures of clouds and fields. This is the third time I have been here," said 30-year-old amateur photographer Tran Van Thuong. According to user kynhong's post on nhiepanh.vn, when the sun appears, you can see colours in each field: the yellow of fields that have just been ploughed, the brown of land, the violet of mud and the green of new fields. After it rains, clouds swoop down to the surface of fields like white blocks of cotton.
Kynhong has gone to many places to take photographs such as Sa Pa, Mu Cang Chai, Bac Ha and Muong Khuong, but for him Bat Xat was the most attractive due to the imposing altitude. Terraced fields are typically 1,500m above sea level, but the terraced fields in Y Ty are over 1,600m. Among the various ethnic minority groups in Y Ty, Ha Nhi people are known for making terraced fields. Despite variations in terrain, they still create wide, beautiful fields that fit the curves of valleys and high mountain slopes.
A trek through the commune offers a fabulous view of earthen houses, which have unique architectural features. The houses have 40-50cm-thick walls made of clay and roofs made of straw grass. Their average area is about 60-80sq.m. They have only one main door and a small arched window for ventilation, retaining warmth in the winter and coolness in the summer.
Seeing the simple architecture of earthen houses, no one would think that people here have to spend around one month building them. The time to repair or build houses is after each crop. After choosing a suitable place, they begin to lay the foundation with stones. Then they build the walls. Soil is put into a mould and people use wooden pestles to jam the layers together, creating solid walls. Finally, they fit wooden beams and purlins together to shape the roof. Seen from above, the houses resemble huge mushrooms. According to Yen, before leaving, you shouldn't miss the chance to visit the Saturday market, full of the agricultural products and colourful traditional clothes of Ha Nhi, H'mong, Dao and Giay people

SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE

Saigon travel guide show travelers what to do in Saigon, the biggest city in Vietnam. Saigon travel guide will pick up great shops, restaurants, hotels and interesting places that travelers may not find information in Saigon guide books or other Saigon travel documents. Saigon travel guide will bring travelers opportunity to see Saigon in your own ways to maximize your experience while traveling to Saigon – Vietnam.

SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE

In this article, SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE shows you Cao Thang Street, one of the interesting streets in Saigon where travelers will find something amazing. SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE picks the most wonderful things in Cao Thang Street which would bring travelers exciting time while spending holidays in Saigon – Vietnam.

Cao Thang Street is in District 3, and based on that fact alone, it is home to exclusively Vietnamese neighborhoods not yet overwhelmed with western establishments. It has, however, changed dramatically as a physical road. Buildings are bookended with the occasional boutique or independent lifestyle shop worth visiting during the day, but surrounding stalls make Cao Thang a suitable street to visit in the evenings for its prized street food. It is a reliable street to navigate between the one-way Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Dien Bien Phu streets, and it only takes a few trips up and down its bustling path to become familiar with the interesting places it has to offer.

Nature Republic
The first one that SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE would like to introduce to travelers is Nature Republic which is located at 103 Cao Thang. As the hot and rainy season returns, skincare can become aggravating. Korean beauty chain Nature Republic supplies collections of skincare products that will inspire a healthy touch of vanity. Rejuvenating foam cleansers, peeling gels, advanced cell-boosting toners and other cool products are fuelled with Miracle of Medication Water, specially formulated water with exotic ingredients like Korean Actinidia arguta sap or hot spring water from Israel’s Jordan River. Try the 92 percent Soothing and Moisture Aloe Vera Gel (VND 159,000) to alleviate sun exposure.

Banh Cuon Hai Nam
SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE also highly recommends Banh Cuon Hai Nam to travelers while visiting Cao Thang Street in Saigon. Banh Cuon Hai Nam is located at 11A Cao Thang. Banh cuon, a Vietnamese stuffed pancake made from rolls of steamed rice paper, is a dish that is eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is certainly one of those dishes you want to eat all day, especially at Banh Cuon Hai Nam, a small and narrow eatery that would be easy to pass by if it weren’t for the scrolling neon lights above its storefront. Plumes of smoke rise from large pots where steamed mushrooms, prawns and rice paper are prepared in the foyer. Farther inside, locals sardine themselves between foldable tables to enjoy full and delicious platters of banh cuon (VND 35,000-40,000). Each plate comes with two steamed rolls drenched in chilli and fish sauce and topped with two slices of cha lua, or Vietnamese pork.

Satwa Yoga
While visiting Cao Thang Street, SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE also recommends Satwa Yoga to travelers who love Yoga. Located at 110 Cao Thang
This fairly new yoga centre is housed inside the NAHI office building. Take the lift past the garage to the third floor, where Satwa’s bright and clean space welcomes members to two yoga classrooms (sala) that accommodate around 15 to 20 people. First-timers can sign up for three free test classes with yoga masters, which include Dr Ashish Tripathi, the centre’s managing director.  Tripathi, a doctor of yoga and natural medicine, combines ancient yoga with modern medicinal science to strengthen individual health needs. Hour-long sessions run every day starting from 6.15am and the last class of the day starting at 7.30pm, offering beginner, intermediate, multilevel and advanced levels. Price varies depending on peak and off-peak hours, but start at VND 1,200,000 for a one-month membership.

Duc Phat Bakery
One of the favorites that SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE would like to introduce to travelers is Duc Phat Bakery which is located at 71 Cao Thang. This bakery has been around since 1984, and it’s still popular among locals. That’s because beloved Vietnamese pastries can be bought in droves for any occasion, whether saved as midnight snacks or gifted as sweet treats for friends and housemates.  A convenient pit stop for those riding along Cao Thang, Duc Phat is an emporium for small Asian pizza buns, different varieties of mung bean cakes, sticky rice and sesame seed pies, stuffed bread coated in strings of dried pork, and countless more traditional goodies, averaging VND 11,000-20,000 for each. Custom or pre-made Vietnamese sponge cakes average VND 300,000.

Banh Canh Ghe
While visiting Cao Thang Street, there are a lot of local dishes that SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE would like to introduce to travelers. Banh Canh Ghe is located at 31 Cao Thang. Kick back with a beer and a satisfying bowl of banh canh ghe (noodle crab soup) after work. Each bowl, served small, medium or large (VND 45,000-65,000), comes with an entire small crab swimming in thick white noodles under a spicy, yellow curry-based broth that will make you sweat in glory. You’ll have to crack the crab limb from limb, but don’t be intimidated; mini baskets at each table are convenient for discarding all the unnecessary parts. Moreover, nibbling to find pockets of tender crab meat is a welcome and entertaining challenge in between active conversations with friends or coworkers. If you’re not feeling the crab, plates of grilled squid or snails also make good plates for sharing over cold beer (VND 50,000).

Banh Trang Nuong Da Lat
The second famous local dish that SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE would like to refers to travelers is Banh Trang Nuong Da Lat which is located at 53-57 and 61 Cao Thang. Around 5pm, the sidewalk across from the Tam Tong Mieu Pagoda becomes filled with young locals that gather for Da Lat-style banh trang nuong (VND 10,000-21,000), or grilled rice paper, eggs and chives prepared and served in what resembles a thin and crunchy Vietnamese quesadilla. It’s a popular spot for the dish, so much so that it occupies two separate stretches of the sidewalk. The menu is only in Vietnamese, but you should opt for the banh trang trung bo (egg and beef), trung ga xe (egg and shredded chicken) or trung hai san (egg and seafood). They may not be filling enough for dinner, but they make a good appetiser. Of course, each slice, cut up with scissors, should be eaten with hot sauce.
SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE always updates the information to ensure that, through our SAIGON TRAVEL GUIDE, travelers will find the best things to do while spending holidays in Saigon in Vietnam.

PLACES TO VISIT IN VIETNAM - DONG KHANH TOMB

Dong Khanh Tomb is in Xuan Thuy Village, Hue City. Dong Khanh Tomb was built in 1888 but actually Dong Khanh Tomb has been built in different phrases in many years. Today, Dong Khanh Tomb is one of great places to visit in Hue City in Vietnam.

PLACES TO VISIT IN VIETNAM - DONG KHANH TOMB

Dong Khanh Tomb is located in Thuy Xuan – Hue City in Vietnam. Dong Khanh Tomb was built in wonderful countryside and the tomb of Dong Khanh King is one of the wonderful places to visit in Hue City in Vietnam. Dong Khanh King was the 9th king of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam.
The real name of Dong Khanh King was Nguyen Phuc Ung Duong and Dong Khanh King was the son of Nguyen Phuc Hong Cai who gave bird to three kings of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam: Kien Phuc King, Ham Nghi King and Dong Khanh King. Even though Dong Khanh king was the eldest son but Dong Khanh became the king after his two brothers. When Hiep Hoa King was killed in 1883, Ton That Thuyet and Nguyen Van Tuong set up Phuc Kien to be the king of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam. Being the king for 8 months, Phuc Kien King died and his brother, Ham Nghi was appointed to be the king of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam. Ham Nghi was the king for only one year and the regime of Nguyen collapsed, Ham Nghi followed his father to fight against French colonists. The crown was empty and Dong Khanh was chosen to be the king of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam. Being the king of the country for three years then Dong Khanh King of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam died when Dong Khanh King was 25 years old. As Dong Khanh King of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam died at his very young age and Dong Khanh King had not thought of building the tomb for him. Dong Khanh Tomb at the moment in Hue city in Vietnam is actually belonged to Dong Khanh King’s father.
After Dong Khanh became the king of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam, knowing that his father’s tomb had not a praying palace therefore Dong Khanh King ordered people to build Truy Tu Palace for his father. Truy Tu Palace was started in February 1888 and finished in October the same year. Dong Khanh King of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam brought his father’s portrait for praying in Truy Tu Palace. Dong Khang King continued to build the tomb for his father but Dong Khanh King passed away when the construction had not done yet. When Dong Khanh King died, Thanh Thai became the next king of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam when the country was in chaos and poor condition. Thanh Thai King had no money to build Dong Khanh Tomb and Thanh Thai King changed the name of Truy Tu Palace to Ngung Hy and used this as the the tomb of Dong Khanh King in Hue city in Vietnam. Dong Khanh Tomb was located was located on a hill called Ho Thuan Son. Dong Khanh Tomb is simple and 30 meter away from Ngung Huy and this whole complex is today called Tu lang.

In August, 1916, Khai Dinh became the king of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue city in Vietnam. Khai Dinh was the son of Dong Khanh Kinh and Khai Dinh King renovated and built the tomb of Dong Khanh King. Most of major construction sites in Dong Khanh Tomb were built under the time Khai Dinh was the king of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam. The construction was finished in July 1917 but Dong Khanh Tomb was continued until 1923.
Have been building in that long period and in chaos time, Dong Khanh Tomb has remarkable designs and styles of both historical periods. If Tu Duc Tomb owns wonderful traditional Vietnamese architecture and Khai Dinh Tomb inherited modern and western style, Dong Khanh Tomb is the connection of these different styles and architecture.
In the fact that Dong Khanh Tomb has been built and designed in different periods and which had been gone through 35 years and Dong Khanh Tomb has been built by four kings in Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam: Dong Khanh King, Thanh Thai King, Duy Tan King and Khai Dinh King. There are about 20 major construction sites in Dong Khanh Tomb which are closed to one another. Dong Khanh Tomb faces South – East and a lake was dug right in front of Dong Khanh Tomb to bring the good Chi to the tomb of Dong Khanh King. Thien An Hill which is about 3 kilometer away and Thien An Hill is used as the protection for Dong Khanh Tomb. The human statues, elephants and houses of other tombs of Nguyen Emperors and Kings were made of stone but all these statues in Dong Khanh Tomb were made of bricks in thin shapes.

The most wonderful site in Dong Khanh Tomb was Ngung Huy Palace which has two roofs joining together and this is the special architecture of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam, especial this style had been used a lot in Hue Citadel. Colorful porcelain and pottery were used in decoration on the roofs, walls and gates for all construction sites in Dong Khanh Tomb. Dong Khanh Tomb was also decorated by a lot of pottery pictures and engraved poems. After Dong Khanh Tomb, this types of arts were hardly used in all the construction sites of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam therefore Dong Khanh Tomb owns great values of art and decorations.

Dong Khanh Kinh was born on 19th February 1864 and died on 28th January 1889 when Dong Khanh King was 24 years old. Dong Khanh king of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue City in Vietnam was the one who did not fight against French colonists. Dong Khanh King had calm temper, liked jewels. When Ham Nghi Kinh fought against French in Quang Binh province in Vietnam, Dong Khanh King was sent there to persuade Ham Nghi surrender but was not successful. Dong Khanh Kinh had 6 sons and 3 daughters.

CHINA VIOLATES VIETNAM’S OCEAN

China has positioned an oil rig together with many escort vessels deep into Vietnam’s continental shelf, violating Vietnam’s sovereignty, Vietnamese officials informed the media at an international press conference on May 7.

CHINA VIOLATES VIETNAM’S OCEAN

China has positioned an oil rig together with many escort vessels deep into Vietnam’s continental shelf, violating Vietnam’s sovereignty, Vietnamese officials informed the media at an international press conference on May 7.
At the conference, Vice Commander and Chief of Staff of the Vietnam Coast Guard Ngo Ngoc Thu, said that on May 1, Vietnamese agencies detected the Hai Yang Shi You 981 deep sea rig of China escorted by three oil and gas service vessels moving from the northeastern area of Tri Ton Island in Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago to the south.

At 16pm on May 2, the rig was floating at 15 degrees 29 minutes 58 seconds north latitude and 111 degrees 12 minutes 06 seconds east longitude, to the south of Tri Ton Island. The location was 80km deep in Vietnam’s continental shelf and was 119 nautical miles to Vietnam’s Ly Son Island and 130 nautical miles to its coast.

According to Deputy Director of the National Boundary Commission Tran Duy Hai, China has so far deployed many vessels, up to 80 at peak time, of various kinds, including seven military ships backed by 33 boats of marine police, marine surveillance force and fishery administration force, as well as transport and fishing vessels. In addition, dozens of Chinese plane are operating daily on the area. A flotilla of armed fishing boats and military ships are prowling 50-60 nautical miles from Ly Son island.

Hai said that when Vietnam’s law enforcement ships arrived to stop the illegal intrusion of the Chinese side, Chinese ships aggressively fired water cannon at and even rammed at Vietnamese vessels, damaging Vietnam’s coast guard vessels and injuring crew members.

The official stressed that Vietnam’s enforcement forces had exercised utmost restraint in the face of Chinese ships’ aggressive acts.

Representatives from the Foreign Ministry, the National Boundary Commission, the Vietnam Coast Guard High Command and the Department of Fisheries Resources Surveillance (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) answered many questions of domestic and foreign reporters on the incidence.

They affirmed that the illegal entry of Vietnam’s waters by China’s oil rig and vessels a well as their aggressive acts towards Vietnamese ships has violated Vietnam’s sovereignty rights and jurisdiction over its exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, seriously running counter to Vietnamese and international laws. It also violated the agreement between ASEAN and China on the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties (DOC) in the East Sea.

The site of the clash is on an international shipping line running through Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone, thus seriously threatening maritime security and safety, and affecting countries in the region and the world.

China’s wrongful acts undermine Vietnam – China relations and bilateral high-level agreements, damaging the trust of Vietnam and international community, the officials stressed.

They however reiterated that Vietnam advocates the use of peaceful measures to solve disputes and will persevere in discussing East Sea problems with China and in adopting peaceful means to safeguard its sovereignty.
